Skiing enthusiasts with a penchant for treehouses can now indulge both their passions by booking a stay in the world’s very first slopeside ski-in/ski-out treehouse chalet at the Whitefish Mountain Resort in north-western Montana… absolutely perfect for anyone who loves outdoor adventures!
It only opened last month (June) so you’ll be one of the first to enjoy a stay in one of the Snow Bear Chalets luxury houses, which are perched 25ft above the forest floor. If it’s incredible views of the countryside you’re after, you could certainly do a lot worse.
Whether it’s skiing, mountain biking, hiking or more, you’ll be able to head out and about with the greatest of ease because you’re located just five feet from the slopes themselves… which means you’ll be able to spend as much time outside enjoying yourself, without having to worry about walking miles to get to the piste.
Each of the chalets can sleep up to ten people, so perfect for families as well, and you can rent them by the week. Developer of the site Gail Lynne Goodwin said: “At some point in our lives, I think we’ve all dreamed of living in a storybook treehouse. Just because we’re adults doesn’t mean that dream has to end – even if it’s only for a week! Life is short and we’re serious far too much. Imagine a place where your inner child can come out to laugh and play with people you love – that’s why we created Snow Bear.”
Of course, not everyone looks for snow when it comes time to book their holidays but the good news is that there are actually countless treehouses around the world you can stay in… so if you’d rather be on the beach, there’s no need to panic!
Check out Airbnb for some ideas on where to go if sun, sea and sand is more your style. You could, for example, book yourself a stay in the Sunset Beach Treehouse Bungalow in Hawaii. This jungle bungalow is the perfect place for a spot of surfing and other water sports, while the island of Oahu itself is perfect for whale watching, horseback riding, sightseeing, helicopter tours… you name it, it’s got it!
Or you could head off to Gironde in France and stay in one of the star Treehouses available to rent. These treehouses have been modelled to look like giant pine cones, nestled in the heart of beautiful woodland, and each one has its own compost loo, with showers and cooking facilities in a communal hut nearby. But the very best bit is that you can all get together as a family at night and look up at the stars through the roof of the treehouse.
Staying in houses like this will really help you when it comes time to design your own hut in the sky – you’re sure to come away with all sorts of ideas and inspiration!
